Early to mid 19th Century Chinese sculpture of Mazu, goddess of the sea. This seated figure is carved from a single piece of wood and gilded with red and blue polychrome. They're wearing a gilt chrysanthemum decorated robe and sitting in the traditional dragon chair. 15 3/4"H x 8 1/2"W The sculpture originated in Chaozhou and came to the U.S. through a 19th century collector in Indianapolis.
